Warwick Acoustics enhances UK manufacturing and R&D facilities
Warwick Acoustics has marked a significant expansion at its new manufacturing headquarters located at MIRA Technology Park in Warwickshire, which will boost production capacity tenfold for its innovative automotive speaker systems.
The company’s CEO, Mike Grant, highlighted the benefits of consolidating manufacturing and design operations. “By making our automotive and headphone products on one UK site, alongside the management, design and engineering teams, we are able to ensure excellence in design, product quality and sustainability,” he said.
The topping-out ceremony at Europe’s largest automotive research and development site celebrates Warwick Acoustics’ new 3,345 sq m facility at Plot 9. This expansion enables increased production of the company’s unique Electrostatic Audio loudspeaker panels to meet the demands of its initial customers.
“We are proud to be able to support British-based innovation, manufacturing, and commercial exploitation for the benefit of our employees, shareholders, and the local community,” Grant added.
The production for their first automotive audio customer, a global luxury car maker whose model will go on sale in 2025, is set to commence soon. Additionally, Warwick Acoustics has launched a new version of the APERIO Headphone System, in collaboration with UK audio expert GoldenSound, offering an advanced interpretation of ultimate headphone experiences.
Choosing the 100% renewable powered MIRA Technology Park as their headquarters aligns with the company’s commitment to sustainability, evidenced further by MIRA’s ongoing construction of a 7MW solar farm projected to power the equivalent of 2,300 houses.
Warwick Acoustics’ patented Electrostatic Audio Panels, which are 90% lighter and use 90% less energy than traditional automotive speakers, represent a significant shift from conventional speaker designs, a technology stagnant for nearly a century. This innovative approach has recently earned the company Design and Innovation awards from WIRED magazine and The Northern Automotive Alliance.
The firm raised a further £7m in a funding round earlier this year led by Mercia, headquartered in Henley-in-Arden, and including NFU Mutual and a range of private investors.
