Versinetic partners with Gemini 2000 to simplify EV charging payments
UK smart charging consultancy, Versinetic, has joined forces with cashless payment automation company Gemini 2000 to deliver a streamlined payment and management solution for electric vehicle (EV) charging site owners and installers.
The new system integrates Versinetic’s load management module, LinkRay, with Gemini’s payment technology, allowing payments from any OCPP-compatible EV charger to be consolidated into a single, easy-to-manage payment terminal and platform. This simplifies operations and reduces costs for EV site operators.
Currently, EV charging sites often feature multiple chargers from different vendors, each requiring a separate payment terminal and ongoing subscription costs or a mobile app for payment. The Versinetic-Gemini solution eliminates the need for individual terminals for each charging point, meaning site owners can operate all chargers via one central terminal, significantly reducing installation and maintenance expenses. Additionally, it eliminates the need for per-charger cloud subscriptions, further cutting costs.
Graeme Wintle, Director, Versinetic said: “As an EV design consultancy team and long-term champion of EVs, we are always looking to solve problems for our clients and facilitate the electrification of the UK’s roads. As EV charging facility operators can face high set up and running costs, we believe our unified payment solution will be an industry game changer, it not only reduces overheads for site owners, it simplifies maintenance for installers through LinkRay’s remote troubleshooting capabilities. There is no comparable product on the market and we are looking forward to rolling it out to existing and new customers now.”
Versinetic’s LinkRay module, the backbone of the new solution, enables advanced charge management and remote monitoring. This small hardware device connects to both AC and DC chargers, managing load balancing to prevent exceeding site power limits. Up to 100 chargers can be linked to LinkRay, regardless of the manufacturer, provided they are OCPP-compatible.
The solution also offers historical power usage analysis, ensuring optimal site performance, and supports a hybrid approach for payment, allowing both pre-authorised tags (for company vehicles) and paid transactions through Gemini’s merchant portal. Transaction logs can be easily downloaded from LinkRay or accessed via the portal, offering complete flexibility for site operators.
Julian Moskov, Gemini 2000, said: “Our work with Versinetic will simplify payments for EV charging and ultimately help bring more EVs onto the roads. Versinetic’s LinkRay solution and long-standing experience in EV solutions was a great fit for our contactless payment technology. The payment process for EV charging can be a confusing and frustrating process for drivers and site operators alike. Our solution sees EV drivers benefiting from a simple and clear charging experience, and having one payment terminal to contend with benefits site operators with lower set-up and running costs.”
