University of Warwick spearheads Birmingham Tech Week’s exciting lineup of events
Two weeks ago, the University of Warwick hosted events for Birmingham Tech Week, featuring over 30 sessions and bringing together 150 speakers.
Warwick organized two events during the week, including a session on the ‘mobility revolution’ at the National Automotive Innovation Centre (NAIC) and a networking dinner for technology center leaders and policymakers.
The festival was organized by Tech WM, a non-profit organization dedicated to raising the profile of the West Midlands technology sector. The University serves as Tech WM’s Founding Academic Patron.
Tech WM’s CEO, Yiannis Maos MBE, commented: “I’m delighted that the University of Warwick is a sponsor of Birmingham Tech Week in the way they are, and this builds on their patronage of Tech WM.”
In the West Midlands region, there are a total of 6,000 companies interconnected with a network of over 38,000 individuals. This collective effort contributes significantly to an ecosystem that holds a value of over £15 billion in the UK’s economy.
“Birmingham Tech Week is a great opportunity to showcase the impressive people, businesses, skills and groundbreaking initiatives from across the region and reflect on areas for growth.”
David Plumb, Chief Innovation Officer (CIO) at Warwick University said:
“The West Midlands region is successfully embracing environmental sustainability, evolving away from traditional combustion engines and carbon technologies, developing new digital skills and leading a new range of tech industries.
Birmingham Tech Week is a great opportunity to showcase the impressive people, businesses, skills and ground-breaking initiatives from across the region and reflect on areas for growth.”
The Warwick Innovation District was conceived as an innovation ecosystem that brings together academics, visionary founders, investors, policy influencers, and students. Its purpose is to leverage the University’s research and innovation initiatives for the advantage of local innovators and entrepreneurs.
