Climate tech startup Tewke has secured £2.7 million in seed funding to further develop its energy-saving home automation solutions.
The London-based company, founded in 2020, will use the funds to enhance its intelligent light switch, Tap, and its underlying AI systems.
Tap, which is set to be unveiled at CES 2025, is designed to reduce energy waste in homes without requiring complex installation. The company aims to tackle the significant amount of energy wasted in homes, estimated to be around 60% according to Tewke’s research.
The funding round attracted investment from both UK and international investors, as well as support from the UK Net Zero Pre-Commercialisation Support Fund and the Housing Digital Innovation Award.
Piers Daniell, Founder of Tewke said, “Over the last 20 years there has been a shift in attitude towards technology and awareness of energy consumption […] There have been small movements towards adopting more energy efficient systems, and smart-home technologies, but there has always been a lack of a fully integrated system that can autonomously automate energy savings, and Tewke is changing that. Often energy savings are associated with some kind of compromise, but at Tewke we are building a platform that will elevate people’s homes, making them more environmentally friendly, intuitive and secure.”
