Balfour Beatty, the London-based construction and infrastructure company, has announced the appointment of Jon Ozanne as its new Chief Information Officer (CIO). This strategic move aims to strengthen the company’s focus on technology and innovation within the industry. Alongside this appointment, Evan Sutherland has been promoted to Chief Procurement Officer, tasked with overseeing the company’s procurement and supply chain strategies.

Jon Ozanne, who joined Balfour Beatty in 2015, has been instrumental in leading the transformation of the company’s IT functions and was previously the UK IT Director before his latest promotion.

As CIO, Ozanne will coordinate the company’s IT and digital strategies, focusing on areas such as cybersecurity and the adoption of artificial intelligence. “It is a pivotal time for the construction and infrastructure industry, with digital tools and technologies integral to driving the industry’s productivity challenge,” Ozanne stated.

Evan Sutherland, who also joined the company in 2015 as the UK Procurement Director, will continue to lead UK procurement and supply chain functions while expanding his role to include global procurement initiatives. Both Ozanne and Sutherland will report directly to Leo Quinn, Balfour Beatty’s CEO.

The company’s growing interest in artificial intelligence, as highlighted by their development of the StoaOne AI app and collaborations with tech giants like Microsoft, underscores the construction sector’s ongoing efforts to integrate more advanced digital tools to enhance productivity and safety.
