Doccla, a virtual ward and remote patient monitoring service provider, has successfully raised £35 million in a Series B funding round. This round saw contributions from Lakestar, Elaia, and continued support from existing investors such as General Catalyst, Bertelsmann Investments, and Speedinvest. Lakestar partner Oliver Heimes is set to join the Doccla board.

The funding will enable Doccla, based in London, to strengthen its presence in the UK and Ireland, where it already collaborates with NHS Trusts across over half of the regions and has recently partnered with Ireland’s HSE. The investment will also support Doccla’s expansion efforts across Europe, with a focus on France and the DACH region, and position the company for potential growth in markets outside Europe.

Regulated by the Care Quality Commission in England, Doccla serves customers in nearly half of the NHS regions. Its technology supports 24/7 monitoring across 40 pathways, providing medical staff with real-time access to patient data. This proactive monitoring allows for the early detection of issues, potentially preventing emergency situations and reducing stress for patients and their families.

Martin Ratz, Founder of Doccla, stated, “Doccla was founded to provide hospital-level care and support at home for multiple patient profiles across the acuity spectrum: enabling the early discharge of patients, as well as ensuring that for those with chronic care needs, hospital admission might be avoided in the first place. Technology-enabled virtual wards deliver great benefits for patients, who can recover at home, while freeing up resources for healthcare providers. Our work has proven immensely valuable to the UK’s National Health Service and we’re excited to scale our European operations. At the same time, we see exceptional upside potential for our services in the Life Sciences sector, and will continue to invest in our data science operations.”

Oliver Heimes, Lakestar Partner and newly appointed Doccla board member, added, “In less than five years Doccla has gone from a research project to establishing itself as a market player in the UK. We are confident they will not just maintain that position but successfully launch in new markets, whilst diversifying their services. Remote patient care delivers proven results and is ushering in new standards in the healthcare systems globally.”
