Gloucestershire-headquartered IT group Kubus has recently secured a £9 million investment from BGF to support its international expansion efforts. Kubus, which has been operating for over two decades and is located in Cirencester, specialises as a value-added reseller (VAR). The company provides a comprehensive array of IT infrastructure solutions in networking, storage, and cybersecurity to blue-chip companies and public sector bodies.

This significant investment is accompanied by the strategic appointment of Paul Brennan as the non-executive chair, who joins Kubus through BGF’s talent network. “We are thrilled to partner with BGF and leverage their expertise and resources to take Kubus to the next level,” stated Andrew Humphrey, CEO of Kubus. “As a business based in the heart of the Cotswolds, we’re proud to be working with businesses and organisations across the world. This investment will allow us to accelerate our global growth plans, innovate faster, and deliver even greater value to our customers. With the added support of Paul Brennan in his new role as non-executive chair, the road ahead looks very exciting indeed.”

Edwin Davies, an investor at BGF, also commented on the partnership: “With strong vendor relationships and a long-standing, blue-chip customer base, Kubus has demonstrated impressive growth and innovation in the technology sector. We believe they are well-positioned to capitalise on the strong market opportunities ahead and look forward to working alongside Paul Brennan and the Kubus management team on their growth journey.”

The funding from BGF will enable Kubus to pursue targeted acquisitions, bolster its marketing and sales initiatives, enhance its operational infrastructure, and explore new market possibilities. In the financial year ending March 2024, Kubus reported a turnover of £35 million and an EBITDA of £2.6 million.

Since its inception in 2011, BGF has invested more than £4 billion in over 600 companies, establishing itself as one of the most prolific investors in the UK. The investment in Kubus marks another robust year for BGF’s South West team, which includes recent investments in Plant-Ex and PureCyber, and a highly successful exit from Hydrock, delivering a six-fold return and a 40 percent internal rate of return.
