Telecoms technology business Filtronic has announced plans to open a new engineering design centre at Cambridge Science Park. The move will see the company expand its operations into one of the UK’s most dynamic technology clusters.
Filtronic, which operates from its NETPark and Leeds bases, designs and manufactures products and sub-systems for the aerospace, defence, telecoms infrastructure and space markets. The company has recently secured several significant contracts, including with Elon Musk’s SpaceX.
By establishing a presence at Cambridge Science Park, Filtronic aims to tap into a rich pool of highly skilled radio frequency engineers, collaborate with industry leaders and research institutions, and accelerate product innovation in high-frequency communications.
This expansion underscores Filtronic’s commitment to advancing its capabilities in space and defence communications.
Nat Edington, CEO, Filtronic, said: “Opening an office at Cambridge Science Park is a pivotal step in our growth strategy. Cambridge’s thriving ecosystem of technology and innovation is an ideal environment for Filtronic as we continue to develop resilient, high-performance solutions for demanding environments. This expansion underscores our commitment to investing in the future of UK engineering and supporting the country’s ambitions in space and defence.”
