Berkshire cybersecurity firm Bridewell has appointed Ray Stanton as board advisor.

A highly experienced security expert and business leader, Ray will support the company’s growth strategy within critical national infrastructure (CNI) and work to build new customer and partner relationships.

He draws on 30-plus years’ experience in cybersecurity, risk management and commercial experience across the UK, US and Nordics – much of that at board level.

Ray is a former CISO and CSO, with a career spanning senior positions at BT, National Grid, IBM, TDC Group and Airbus UK. He offers expertise in energy, telecoms and the aviation industry and was also instrumental in setting up global programmes on cyber resilience for the World Economic Forum. He also sat on the advisory board for the Information Security Forum.

At Bridewell, Ray’s immediate priorities include driving further engagement and traction across critical infrastructure security services in the UK and US. He will support the establishment of a new Customer Advisory Board to gather customer feedback and help guide new service offerings developed around key customer requirements.

Ray said: “I’m looking forward to my new role at Bridewell, and to using the experience and knowledge that I’ve developed over decades to help take the company forward and build on the CNI growth strategy in the UK and US.

“I’ve been on both sides of the cyber security business – as a supplier and an end-user – which gives me valuable insights into the cyber security market and how it’s likely to develop. A vital part of our strategy must be to listen intensively to our customers.”

Anthony Young, CEO of Bridewell, added: “I’ve known Ray for over 15 years. I have a huge respect for what he’s achieved in terms of building high performing security teams, establishing businesses internationally and his reputation across the industry. I’m looking forward to working more closely with Ray as he helps us implement our strategy, serving the needs of existing customers, and expanding our client base. Ray combines extensive knowledge of cyber security in CNI with genuine commercial acumen and business intuition. I know his contribution as an advisor to the board will be invaluable.”
