The School of Science & Technology has unveiled Cyber London, a new initiative aimed at bolstering the capital’s cybersecurity sector. The launch event was attended by a host of industry and government figures, underscoring the project’s significance.
Endorsed by both the Department of Science, Innovation & Technology (DSIT) and the UK Cyber Cluster Collaboration (UKC3), Cyber London has been officially recognised as the ‘Cyber Cluster’ for the capital. These clusters are seen as pivotal in driving growth within the UK’s cyber industry and beyond.
Co-founded by Professor Raj Rajarajan, the initiative seeks to foster a thriving cybersecurity ecosystem in London, facilitating connections with both domestic and international partners.
He said: “In the cybersecurity area, we are way behind the curve on useability, and making the capabilities which we have developed accessible to people in organisations and complex enterprises. So, there is more work to do.”
The launch event featured a distinguished panel of speakers, including representatives from Plexal, the UK Police’s Cybercrime Programme, and a range of international trade and investment agencies. Industry giants such as Lloyds Banking Group, Deloitte, British Telecom, and Mastercard were also in attendance.
Professor Sir Anthony Finkelstein, President of City, University of London, opened the proceedings.
