OGL and Intequal launch new Technical Sales Apprenticeship
OGL Computer, a growing IT and cybersecurity services provider based in Kidderminster, designs, delivers and supports the IT backbone of hundreds of businesses across the region. With ambitious expansion plans, the company needs to recruit the next generation of aspiring salespeople.
Lee Reece, Head of New Business, commented: “I joined the business through a similar scheme almost 20 years ago and have experienced all the highs and lows that come with a sales role. But I am proud to now lead a team of talented salespeople helping them to achieve their own career aspirations.
“We have always found that developing our own people from the ground up is extremely successful, but the market is getting more competitive so having this opportunity to partner with Intequal who has worked with the likes of Fujitsu, Vodafone, Microsoft and Atos is fantastic. This will be one of the first Technical Sales Apprenticeship schemes that have been launched for SME businesses in the Midlands and we are very excited to be part of it.”
Intequal, a Microsoft accredited learning partner based in Birmingham, has been delivering technical and sales-related Apprenticeship programmes for a number of years within the enterprise sector and has over 300 learners already. Over the past few years, the company has achieved an enviable reputation for delivering 100% pass rate with almost half of their learners achieving a Distinction.
Nik Wall, Business Development Manager at Intequal said: “Our specialist teams work closely alongside employers to ensure training is of a high standard and content is relevant and up-to-date with technological advances.
We have seen huge successes with the enterprise businesses that we work with and decided to work with OGL Computer as they are seen as one of the leading IT providers in the region, so they were the perfect fit for us.”
Emma Porter, Head of HR at OGL Computer commented: “We have been running successful Apprenticeship programmes within our technical delivery and business administration areas of the business for a few years and have seen over 15 apprentices go through the programme and progress into full-time roles.
Sales has always been a very competitive industry and finding people with the right skills who want to make Sales their long-term career choice has been getting more difficult. Knowing that Apprenticeships have worked well for us in other areas made it the obvious route for us to address the skills gap in Sales, and Intequal can do that whilst also ensuring our recruits will gain knowledge around our IT and software products and services at the same time.
We will be looking to put an initial group of 6 individuals through the launch programme who will then have the opportunity to progress into a range of sales roles across our 3 divisions; business software, IT solutions and cybersecurity. Intequal’s pedigree speaks for itself and we are thrilled to be working with them.”
