Nottingham company acquires synthetic AI product from Smart Data Foundry

Nottingham-based bigspark has completed the acquisition of Aizle.ai, a synthetic AI product, along with its team, from Smart Data Foundry, situated in Edinburgh. Aizle.ai specialises in generating privacy-secure synthetic data which allows organisations to drive innovation without compromising security.
Aizle.ai, originally a modest research project within the University of Edinburgh, has evolved into a significant division employing eight data scientists. It has garnered a substantial client base that includes prominent entities such as the Financial Conduct Authority, the Central Bank of Ireland, and the Department for Business and Trade. Its technology is particularly designed to eliminate data privacy risks, facilitating financial institutions to fully leverage their data assets.
Robin Bradley, CEO of bigspark, commented on the acquisition, stating, “The acquisition marks a significant step forward in our commitment to unlocking growth and opportunity for businesses to deliver tangible results. Aizle’s expertise in financial data and its cutting-edge synthetic data platform perfectly complement our capabilities.”
Aizle was created by Smart Data Foundry to generate large-scale synthetic datasets through AI-driven ‘synthetic agents’. This innovation enables the creation of high-quality data where real data is restricted due to privacy concerns or potential biases.
Dougie Robb, CEO of Smart Data Foundry, expressed optimism about the acquisition’s potential, noting, “The acquisition of Aizle by bigspark is a significant opportunity for Aizle to thrive in an environment that is perfectly aligned with its innovative capabilities.”
With this strategic acquisition, bigspark, which collaborates with leading firms like eSure, Natwest, and Barclays, aims to enhance its AI capabilities, offering comprehensive data solutions that promise increased security, innovation, and efficiency.
