US tech firm Ezoic sets up UK head office at Portland House, Newcastle

A US-based tech firm is making a significant move by establishing its UK headquarters in Portland House’s contemporary offices situated in the heart of Newcastle city centre. Ezoic UK Ltd, the UK subsidiary of the California-based Ezoic Group, is the latest organisation to choose Portland House as its new base.

This prominent building was previously home to the Newcastle Building Society and recently underwent extensive renovations, reopening last autumn. Ezoic is set to occupy over 8,000 square feet of space on the first floor, after signing a 12-year lease. While the firm currently has 19 employees based in London, the UK headquarters will now be anchored in Newcastle.

Mike McGuire, UK MD, Ezoic, said: “This relocation marks a significant step forward for Ezoic’s UK operations, bringing them into a dynamic and inspiring new workspace in Newcastle’s city centre. The whole city is buzzing, but with its ongoing and further planned developments, this particular area is the perfect choice. Along with its central location, this is an incredible space for Ezoic team members to work and socialise, with gyms, culture, retail and dining opportunities literally on the doorstep. Newcastle is a truly vibrant city, becoming increasingly important as a UK tech hub, and we’re delighted to be a part of that buzz.”

Several other businesses have also embraced this modern workspace, including Eddisons, a commercial property consultancy, Mills & Co, a maritime and international trade law firm, Parklane Plowden, a barristers’ chambers and Central Employment, a recruitment agency. Raymond James Monument, a newly established wealth management company, has also only recently secured 1,500 square feet of space within the building.

Portland House is equipped with a range of sustainable amenities that underscore its commitment to environmental responsibility. These features include an innovative cooling system that utilizes exclusively fresh air, eliminating the need for recycled air. Additionally, the sinks in the facility are constructed from waterproof solid wood composite, contributing to eco-friendliness.

Furthermore, the building has embraced sustainable transportation solutions by incorporating electric car charging stations and a dedicated bike repair unit, promoting eco-conscious commuting options. Notably, it stands as the sole office building in Newcastle with an uninterruptible emergency power supply, swiftly activated in the event of a mains failure, ensuring continuous operations.
