Thoughtworks embarks on recruitment drive to fill 80 tech positions in Newcastle

Just a year after unveiling its Newcastle office, global tech consultancy Thoughtworks is set to embark on a new recruitment drive, aiming to fill 80 additional positions at its Newcastle location.

The 80 additional roles will include senior to junior positions, with opportunities also available within the Thoughtworks University – a year-long program that immerses new hires in technical and consulting skills, to nurture individual growth.

The company is also preparing to move to a fresh workspace to accommodate its growing team. The upcoming state-of-the-art office has been expertly designed by Newcastle-based firm Aptus. With a strong emphasis on adaptability, the space caters to the hybrid work model that emerged post-pandemic. The facility will boast flexible meeting zones capable of hosting expansive virtual gatherings and in-person workshops, as well as combinations of both. Creative and collaborative areas will cater to smaller groups, while isolated quiet pods cater to those seeking focused independent work.

Each section will be outfitted with cutting-edge technology, facilitating seamless remote connectivity.

Matt Simons, market director at Thoughtworks said: “As Newcastle continues its rise as a leading UK tech hub, Thoughtworks is committed to establishing a presence in the North East, and will look to make a tangible contribution to the region’s growth. We are keen to further expand and invest in the area and cement its status as a tech hub in the UK.”

Thoughtworks’ proprietary research has revealed that the North East ranks highly in prioritising employee well-being. Reflecting this ethos, the new office will encompass various social and recreational zones, along with comfortable spaces for team members to unwind. Accessibility for all is a core principle guiding the office’s design.

Elected Metro Mayor for North of Tyne, Jamie Driscoll, concluded: “Thoughtworks get it. The North East is fast becoming a go-to location for tech companies. It’s excellent news that they’re creating dozens more local jobs, at all levels. This is as much about changing individual lives as it is about boosting the sector and transforming our region. Bravo, Thoughtworks.”
