Fintech North Calls on Financial & Tech Communities
Following the runaway success of the two previous FinTech North Manchester conferences, the event is returning to the city on Thursday 2nd April.
With a host of FinTech leaders already lined up for Manchester’s conference, the organisers are calling on the financial and tech communities to get involved in shaping the remaining slots on the agenda for the day. Last year’s conference attracted over 350 sign ups.
Taking place at the University of Manchester’s Whitworth Hall, the conference will bring together high-profile speakers from UK FinTech and beyond, as well as established tech companies and innovative start-ups from the region.
Those already confirmed include keynotes from Markos Zachariadis, Professor of Financial Technology at Alliance Manchester Business School, Ian Johnson, Head of Europe of Marqeta, the leading global modern card issuing platform, Anna Wallace, Innovate Head of Department for the Financial Conduct Authority and the Data and Open Finance guru, Kevin Telford. Innovate Finance and The FinTech Alliance will both also be speaking at the event.
Chris Sier, HM Treasury FinTech Envoy & Chairman, FinTech North said:
“FinTech North was created to foster collaboration and to help the regional FinTech landscape grow further. With that in mind, we are calling on people to tell us what they would like to see on the agenda and how the Manchester event can help them. We want to use the Manchester conference in April to once again showcase the brightest and best and help FinTech’s across the Northern Powerhouse unlock their potential.”
Established in 2016 by Whitecap Consulting and White Label Crowdfunding, FinTech North is a non-profit organisation that aims to reinforce the UK’s Northern Powerhouse as a region of excellence for FinTech. The conference operates an open and collaborative platform helping forge relationships between the region’s startups and innovators, established tech giants and academia.
Manchester is one of the UK’s fastest growing regions for FinTech and was recently named as the number one location in the region for new tech businesses following research by NatWest. This year’s Manchester conference is hosted and supported by the University of Manchester for the third consecutive year, with partnerships also in place with MIDAS and pro-manchester. PR and communications support is being delivered by Manchester-based Galibier PR, who have worked with FinTech North on all the previous conferences.
The conference will also shine a spotlight on Manchester FinTech with a panel discussion and a showcase of some of the city’s most exciting startups and scaleups.
Professor Dame Nancy Rothwell, President and Vice Chancellor, The University of Manchester, had this to say:
“We look forward to welcoming FinTech North back for its third annual conference in Manchester, each of which has been hosted by the University. Our interest in FinTech continues to deepen and we have recently appointed our first Professor of Financial Technology and Information Systems, who we are delighted will be giving the opening keynote.”
Early bird tickets for the conference can be purchased here and are priced at £69 per delegate until 5th March.
