Co-operative Bank creates over 100 IT jobs in Manchester
The Co-operative Bank is looking for talent to support its digital strategy and previous banking and IT experience is not a necessity
Co-operative Bank has announced new jobs to support the online and digital services it is developing for customer services.
The bank said the IT and digital jobs will be based at its north-west England operations in Manchester.
This is part of a five-year programme where the bank is investing millions of pounds in transforming IT and increasing its digital capabilities.
The jobs will be open to a range of candidates, with recent graduates, as well as experienced, invited to an event in Manchester on 8 May. This event and others will showcase IT job opportunities.
Candidates don’t necessarily require previous experience in IT or financial services as the bank seeks candidates from a variety of backgrounds.
The rapid take-up of digital banking services for consumers and businesses means banks must recruit people with experience in areas outside traditional banking. People with experience at retailers and internet companies like Google, for example, can bring value to an IT workforce.
Mark Record, IT and change director at Co-operative Bank, said the company needs the right people and skills to help it deliver its online and digital proposition.
The bank is hoping to attract candidates that look beyond salary. “Aside from competitive pay and benefits, we offer comprehensive flexible working policies, along with initiatives to help colleagues develop their careers and ensure the right work-life balance – for example, a mentoring scheme for new parents,” said Record.
“We are at the start of our transformation journey. With our series of recruitment events, we want to bring in the best and the brightest from across the north-west and beyond.”
The IT and Change careers event will be held at 6pm on Wednesday 8 May at The Federation Building in Manchester. No registration is required.
