Homecare tech business Cera Care invests in AI chatbot to assist elderly
Homecare tech firm Cera Care is investing in new technology by developing an AI chatbot called Martha, which provides decision support to carers based on questions they ask.
The aim is that Martha will be able to successfully foresee health deteriorations to pre-empt more serious illnesses and avoid unnecessary admissions to hospital.
Cera Care has recently expanded into Greater Manchester to tap into the demand for elderly care services. The online booking service uses an algorithm and automated scheduling system that aims to respond to all enquiries within the hour and start care on the same day when requested, in 96% of cases.
Carers create digital care reports during visits which are accessible to family members and healthcare services, meaning metrics are accurately monitored and better joined-up care can be delivered.
As a digital business, it also claims to pay carers up to 50 per cent higher than the industry average.
Cera Care has launched its ‘on-demand’ service in and around Bury, while its ‘live-in’ care service is available across Greater Manchester.
Nicola Ledger, care operations manager for Cera Care in Manchester, said: “Manchester is a world-class city, deserving of excellent care for all residents, so we’re delighted to be expanding Cera Care here.
“Given the high demand for elderly care services, we’re excited about the positive impact Cera Care will have on the lives of elderly people and their families here.
“We know arranging care for loved ones can be frustrating and tricky, so at Cera Care we aim to make the process smooth and easy.
“Our model, underpinned by sophisticated technology, means we can provide high-quality care at affordable prices.”
