Manchester IT provider King of Servers celebrates record profits in 2016
Manchester’s IT solutions provider King of Servers celebrated yet another record-breaking year in 2016 as sales revenue increased by 26%, reaching almost £3m by the end of the year.
Their average monthly profits also increased by 160% from 2015 to 2016.
King of Servers has high hopes for an even stronger 2017 as they have branched out to offer converged infrastructure and security products in response to changes in the market and tech landscape in general.
The small firm, consisting of three staff members, was also shortlisted for ‘Rising Star’ at last year’s CRN Channel Awards, in November, and won the ‘computers, telecommunications and electricals’ category at the Online Retail Awards in 2016.
Albie Attias, managing director of King of Servers says: “Despite drastic shifts in the market and economic uncertainty in 2016, I am delighted that the business has still managed to achieve significant growth. We are only a small team, but this doesn’t stop us competing with big brands and staying at the forefront of the market.”
Albie and the King of Servers team also made the bold decision to expand its product range in 2017, which now offers converged solutions, and move away from
operating as an ‘IT reseller’ to ‘IT solutions provider’. This came in response to a shift in market conditions, which demonstrates the brand’s willingness to respond to the changing needs of its customers.
In addition to the original product offering of storage, networking and components, the brand now offers converged solutions and security solutions. Offering new product ranges has meant that Albie has had to make considerable changes to how the business operates.
He says: “Previously, many of the customers we dealt with knew what they wanted to purchase, and were shopping around for the best price. The new products require a more consultation-based sales approach. By definition, these solutions are bespoke, configured units that cannot be advertised online with a ticket price. Customers may not necessarily be fully aware of the benefits of converged systems or of the cost benefit over time. This has meant training our sales staff so that they are able to offer comprehensive advice on the new products, and convey the benefits of convergence.”
As part of the new product offering, King of Servers started selling the VRTX converged infrastructure in January 2017 and will be introducing the SonicWALL range of security products in February 2017.
