Kainos and our future health strengthen their partnership to progress UK’s health research initiative
Kainos, a leading digital technology firm, and Our Future Health, the UK’s foremost health research programme, have announced the continuation of their pivotal digital partnership. This collaboration is set to transform the prevention, early detection, and treatment of diseases, aiming to enhance the health and well-being of millions in the UK.
Our Future Health is on a mission to assemble a diverse cohort of five million volunteers, an effort unmatched in scale. This initiative seeks to uncover why some individuals are more prone to diseases, leading to advancements in prevention, detection, and treatment strategies.
Participants contribute through questionnaires, blood samples, physical measurements, and by allowing secure access to their health records. In return, they receive insights into their health, such as blood pressure and cholesterol levels.
As of November 2023, over one million volunteers have joined. Given the success so far, Our Future Health has renewed its partnership with Kainos for another year. Kainos will continue to support the programme’s volunteer registration and onboarding portal, along with providing digital tools for clinicians.
Marko Balabanovic, Chief Technology Officer, Our Future Health commented, “Kainos is a great digital partner for us. With a successful track record in secure, data-centric health projects, including the NHS App in England and Wales, the team’s digital expertise has truly been invaluable. The commitment and understanding of our unique requirements that they’ve shown have been pivotal to the success of this groundbreaking project, and we’re delighted to extend our partnership.”
Advancing disease research with digital innovation
In 2021, Our Future Health initiated a partnership with Kainos to create and launch a digital platform for participants and clinical staff, utilising Microsoft Azure Cloud and Dynamics CRM for development and support. By 2023, the programme will have expanded its accessibility through a scalable integration that enables blood donors to join during their regular NHS Blood and Transplant (NHSBT) appointments, simplifying participation.
John Smith, Head of Healthcare, Kainos commented, “Our Future Health is a leader in health research, and we are thrilled to continue our strategic partnership with them as they shape the future of disease prevention and treatment. We’re also proud to be part of a programme that so clearly demonstrates how the delivery of digital services is transforming healthcare and having a meaningful impact to the lives of millions across the UK.”
Kainos’ renewed collaboration with Our Future Health highlights its longstanding commitment to the healthcare and life sciences sector, where it has been delivering digital solutions for over 15 years. With a portfolio that includes the NHS App in England and Wales and advanced electronic medical records systems, Kainos stands at the leading edge of digital transformation in healthcare, serving the NHS, public health organisations, private sector providers, and innovative life sciences companies.
