GivEnergy acquisition of Orange Power enhances commercial grid services
GivEnergy, a manufacturer of energy storage systems, has announced its acquisition of energy aggregator Orange Power, which is based in Staffordshire. This strategic move aims to enhance the grid service capabilities of GivEnergy, providing commercial battery owners with new revenue opportunities previously unavailable. The integration of Orange Power’s platform with GivEnergy’s expertise in battery energy storage systems (BESS) is set to transform smart grid interconnectivity in the UK.
Orange Power is known for coordinating and aggregating energy savings across nationwide battery assets during periods of high grid demand. GivEnergy, specialising in BESS, focuses on upgrading passive assets into an intelligent, interconnected grid framework. This acquisition is a strategic initiative to drive innovation in grid flexibility within the UK.
By leveraging the Orange Power platform, GivEnergy will expand its capabilities in grid services, enabling commercial and fleet partners to support the grid by exporting stored clean energy. These businesses will benefit financially from their participation, thereby enhancing their investment returns in energy storage.
Jason Howlett, Global CEO at GivEnergy, expressed his enthusiasm about the acquisition: “We are thrilled to welcome the Orange Power team into the GivEnergy family. The acquisition aligns perfectly with our goal of cleaning up the UK’s energy landscape, particularly as it pertains to Smart Energy Devices and their role in supporting and stabilising grid infrastructure. We’re also proud to be able to incentivise energy storage uptake by boosting the ROI of battery installation and maximising value for customers. With Orange Power’s expertise in energy aggregation, we can help our customers unlock the full potential of their assets via access to the rapidly growing grid services market.”
Orange Power will become a standalone entity within the GivEnergy Software division. Justin Ma, the founder of Orange Power, commented on the merger: “We are excited to bring our industry knowledge and experience to the GivEnergy Group. The deal will allow us to join forces in offering tailored grid services designed specifically for the commercial sector. This is undoubtedly a market poised for growth, as businesses seek to increase their energy efficiency and capitalise on renewable energy investments. Together, we can deliver substantial returns for partners while driving innovation – and battery adoption – in the renewable energy industry.”
