Two Derby entrepreneurs have launched a new tech business, Truly SMB, with plans to create 50 jobs by the end of the year. The hybrid VAR and MSP company, launched yesterday, aims to support small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs) across the UK, US, and Canada.
Based in Derby, Truly SMB aims to bring cutting-edge Microsoft technology solutions to smaller businesses and its goal is to make advanced tools like artificial intelligence (AI) and business process automation solutions accessible, affordable, and practical for smaller businesses.
Vicky Critchley, CEO of Truly SMB, previously owned Derby-based IT company Bam Boom Cloud, which was acquired by global tech marketplace Pax8 in 2023. She said: “We’re here to level the playing field for small and medium businesses. By offering practical technology solutions that are easy to implement, we’ll help businesses in the East Midlands thrive. Our goal is to empower SMBs to embrace the digital age and drive real growth without the complexity of traditional tech services.”
Truly SMB says it plans to work closely with Midlands-based businesses, offering tailored guidance and support to ensure advanced technologies are both accessible and relevant to their needs. Vicky is joined by Brett Critchley, Truly SMB’s chairman, and a team from the recently acquired True MSP, an East Midlands-based managed service provider specialising in cybersecurity.
Brett Critchley said: “Our Derby HQ is more than just an office; it’s a space for innovation and collaboration. We’re committed to supporting the local economy and empowering local businesses to grow and thrive through technology. I’m thrilled to be investing in the Derby economy again and there’s no better location to deliver on the Truly SMB vision.”
