Databarracks completes acquisition of COOLSPIRiT
In a significant move within the IT services industry, Databarracks has successfully acquired COOLSPIRiT, a leading provider of data management and IT infrastructure solutions, headquartered in Derbyshire, UK. This acquisition brings together COOLSPIRiT, the UK’s foremost Commvault Solution Provider Partner, with Databarracks, renowned as the largest Managed Service Partner, to create a formidable entity in data protection.
Damon Robertson, CEO of COOLSPIRiT, commented on the merger, reflecting on the aligned missions of both organisations over two decades in safeguarding organisational data and ensuring business continuity. “We’re thrilled to be joining a team who like us, have spent over 20 years protecting organisations’ data and continuity,” Robertson stated. He praised the longstanding relationship with Peter, Co-Founder of Databarracks, underscoring the seamless integration and shared values between the two companies.
James Watts, Managing Director of Databarracks, emphasised the strategic expansion enabled by this acquisition. “Three years ago we acquired 4sl, becoming the UK’s largest Commvault MSP. With COOLSPIRiT, we further our capabilities significantly by adding an outstanding Solution Provider and enhancing our CASP (Commvault Accredited Support Partner) capabilities,” Watts explained.
The acquisition is set to enhance the service offerings of both companies, combining COOLSPIRiT’s extensive capabilities in infrastructure, cyber, and data protection with Databarracks’ expertise in business resilience and public cloud solutions. Robertson highlighted the immediate and tangible benefits for the customers of both entities, promising enhanced service delivery and innovation.
Robertson further noted the synergy in their approach to modern challenges in IT resilience, such as cyber threats and the shift towards subscription-based services. “Over the last few years, Commvault has made some terrific acquisitions and innovations and is shifting to subscription services. It aligns exactly with what Databarracks is doing in public cloud data protection and cyber resilience,” he added.
The integration of COOLSPIRiT’s resources and expertise is expected to reinforce Databarracks’ already robust offerings in data protection, cyber security, and cloud services, positioning the company to address the evolving needs of businesses in the face of increasing cyber threats and the imperative for robust business continuity strategies.
Watts concluded by reflecting on the journey of both companies from their founding moments, through the evolving landscape of IT challenges, to their current positions as leaders in data protection. “There are very few true data protection specialists and fewer still who can also help address the growing cyber, business continuity, and resilience challenges,” Watts remarked, affirming the strategic importance of the acquisition.
