Birmingham’s Crowd Technologies acquired by BECG
Crowd Technologies, which is behind CrowdControlHQ, has been snapped up by BECG and this acquisition gives the communications consultancy ownership of Crowd’s intellectual property in social media aggregation, management, publishing, engagement, analysis and reporting.
Crowd’s 18 full-time staff, including seven of software developers, will join BECG, which is a sector specialist communications consultancy for the built environment with offices across the UK.
Crowd’s founder and chief executive James Leavesley has joined BECG as a director and will lead on the group’s social media strategy and product development.
BECG’s chief executive Stephen Pomeroy said: “In a year of living with Covid-19 it has confirmed that our digital-first strategy is what clients, their customers and stakeholders need.
“Bringing Crowd’s existing IP and new product development capability into BECG gives us the agility and some capability to deliver the digital services that can engage, empower and drive change.
“There is great potential for BECG and Crowd to offer our existing and new clients a level of strategy advice and unique proprietary services that few communications groups can match.”
Leavesley added: “In BECG we have found the ideal acquirer to take Crowd to its next stages of growth.
“We do share a conviction that a partnership approach across digital and social media communications will solve our clients’ challenges in new and innovative ways, and we are passionate about a UK-based company leading in this marketplace.
“Accessing BECG’s funding, communications expertise, stakeholder networks, and existing technology capability we will accelerate both our core product, CrowdControlHQ, and the development of new digital solutions.”
