Birmingham Tech Week returns: regions largest tech event
Birmingham Tech Week, celebrated as the UK’s largest regional technology festival and conference, returns for its sixth iteration this year. Slated for 21-25 October, the event is poised to be the most extensive yet, anticipating over 8000 participants and featuring more than 100 speakers.
Hosted across Birmingham venues such as Millennium Point, STEAMhouse, The Exchange, and the ICC, the week-long event will offer a rich programme that includes interactive tech demos, insightful panel discussions, and cutting-edge forums. Highlights of the event include the Scale-Up Summit, an Engineering & Developer Conference, and the Global Growth Congress alongside a futuristic Tech Expo.
Each day of the conference is themed: Monday will focus on leadership; Tuesday will concentrate on digital skills and the HealthTech sector; Wednesday features the Global Growth Congress and will spotlight women in tech and cyber; Thursday will emphasise growth; and Friday will celebrate the week’s accomplishments.
A major feature of the week is the ‘One to Win’ pitch competition, spearheaded by Rigby Group, Haatch, and SCC, and managed by Midven, part of Future Planet Capital. This competition will award a groundbreaking £1 million to a West Midlands business demonstrating exceptional innovation, with the pitch taking place on Wednesday and the winner announced at Friday’s black-tie event.
TechWM, a non-profit at the helm of this regional tech festival, is collaborating with both longstanding and new patrons to ensure that the 2024 Birmingham Tech Week is the most impactful since its inception in 2019. Birmingham, known as Europe’s youngest city, continues as a hub for innovation with over 6,000 companies employing more than 56,000 people and contributing to a thriving ecosystem valued at over £15 billion. The event also reflects the city’s role as a significant centre for tech talent, with over 55% of local university graduates remaining in the area post-graduation.
Birmingham Tech Week 2024 will offer a plethora of industry insights and fringe events, touching on topics like Artificial Intelligence, Quantum Computing, and Augmented Reality. Attendees will have access to expert-led discussions aimed at driving growth and preparing businesses for the future of technology. The event is expected to draw participation from leading tech figures and brands, including giants like Microsoft and Amazon.
Birmingham Tech Week is now open for registration, sponsorship, and expressions of interest for fringe events. For more details, visit www.birminghamtechweek.com.
