Baringa is set to establish its first Birmingham office
Management consultancy firm Baringa is bolstering its footprint in the West Midlands with the upcoming launch of its first office in Birmingham, scheduled for early 2024.
Speaking on the move, Alison Gaskins, chief operating officer at Baringa, explained, “By opening a new office in Birmingham we can access a great talent pool. Birmingham already has a strong professional services sector as well as five universities – there are a wealth of smart people who can help provide the brainpower we need to fuel our expansion.”
Baringa offers consulting services across a range of sectors, including energy, financial services, consumer products, and government, among others. Their services encompass economic advisory, technology transformation, and data advisory. They serve a broad clientele, which includes several FTSE 100 companies and numerous emerging startups. This diverse portfolio has fueled significant growth, as their global workforce has doubled in the last two and a half years, growing from 952 employees in April 2021 to 1,922 by October 2023.
In early 2023, Baringa embarked on an expansion journey, extending its presence in the United States by opening an office in North Carolina. Presently, the UK-based company is directing its focus towards the domestic market, as it prepares to establish an office in the heart of Birmingham. This office is expected to become home to more than 50 professionals, to be sourced from the local talent pool.
Gaskins added, “Birmingham also provides a new option for our colleagues. Some can use the office to work more flexibly, balancing time between home, the London office and the Midlands. And not everyone wants to live and work in London – by having a base in another city we make ourselves more attractive to people who choose not to base themselves in the capital.”
In recent years, the West Midlands has emerged as the United Kingdom’s fastest-growing tech sector outside of London. This surge in technological development has attracted a wealth of specialized talent to the region, prompting an increasing number of consulting firms to explore the opportunities within this innovative market. Notable consulting firms like EY and Accenture, alongside engineering firm Rendel and global construction consultancy Meinhardt, have already established their presence in the region.
Although the exact location for the new office has yet to be finalized, it is slated for opening in January or February 2024. In the meantime, Baringa, which achieved platinum ratings in the banking, financial services, insurance, and telecom industry categories of Consultancy.
UK’s 2023 rankings, is determined to continue its expansion and evolution in the coming period.
