Aurrigo eyes growth from autonomous vehicle demand
Coventry-based Aurrigo International plc, a global provider of smart airside solutions, has reported strong growth in its autonomous division as part of its interim results for the first six months of 2024. The company, which listed on the Alternative Investment Market (AIM) in 2022, achieved a turnover of £3.9 million – a 26% rise, consistent with the board’s expectations.
A key driver of this growth has been the uptake of Aurrigo’s Auto-Sim digital twin product and the successful deployment of its all-electric Auto-DollyTug® at five major global airports. This innovative technology offers a glimpse into the future of baggage and cargo transportation. Revenue from autonomous solutions alone reached £800,000 during the first half of 2024, marking a 160% increase, with projections of reaching £3 million by the end of the year.
Additionally, the automotive side of the business also experienced double-digit growth due to a better product mix and increased orders from long-term clients.
Professor David Keene, CEO of Aurrigo International plc, commented: “We are pleased to report a period of strong growth as we scale our technology, teams, and customer engagements. The growth in our autonomous division reflects the steady scaleup of our smart airside solutions in key airport hubs around the world, which is driving increased interest across our target aviation market and a growing pipeline.”
Throughout the year, the company has expanded its international teams, improved its hardware and software offerings, and strengthened its partnerships. One major operational highlight for 2024 has been the integration of robotic arms into the Auto-DollyTug®, enabling the vehicle to autonomously load and unload Unit Load Devices (ULDs). The success of these deployments has led to the signing of three strategic partnerships, granting Aurrigo access to a network of over 460 airports.
In addition to these developments, Aurrigo has invested in scaling up its UK team at its Advanced Engineering Centre in Coventry, expanded operations in Singapore, and opened a new office at Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport in the United States.
David Keene concluded, “We enter the second half of 2024 with good momentum, improving margins, and a clear pipeline of deliverables, giving us confidence in our growth opportunity to help deliver the airport of the future.”
