AI courses launched in the West Midlands
In the West Midlands, a pioneering artificial intelligence (AI) training initiative has been unveiled, thanks to a collaborative effort between the digital skills provider Netcom Training and the technological powerhouse Intel.
Supported by the West Midlands Combined Authority with a substantial funding exceeding £500,000, this initiative is part of Intel’s ‘Digital Readiness’ programmes designed to bridge the digital skills gap.
The programme, named ‘AI for Current Workforce’, aims to educate 360 individuals across three cohorts, targeting both those currently employed and job seekers. It will encompass project management skills and offer interactive sessions conducted virtually by Netcom.
West Midlands Mayor Andy Street highlighted the crucial role of AI in future economies, underscoring the necessity for local businesses to adapt by equipping their staff with AI competencies.
“Artificial intelligence will play an increasingly important role in the successful economies of the future so it’s vital that local businesses are able to future proof themselves and adapt to this rapidly changing marketplace. That will require staff who are skilled in the use of AI technology which is why this training course in partnership with Netcom Training and Intel is so critical.”
Kevin Vashi, Netcom Training’s managing director, expressed excitement over this collaboration, viewing it as a significant step in Netcom’s mission to enhance digital skills.
“This collaboration marks a significant milestone in Netcom’s commitment to advance digital skills. We were delighted to be selected as the training partner for the delivery of the latest AI training initiative. We look forward to…providing individuals and businesses with the tools and knowledge they need to fully reap the benefits of this transformational technology.”
