Sheffield specialist selected by West Midlands Police to improve surveillance camera security
Synectics, a Sheffield-based specialist in security and surveillance services, has announced a new partnership with the West Midlands Police (WMP) to integrate cameras managed by the National Highways Agency across the West Midlands into its advanced software platform, Synergy.
The company has been providing tailored solutions for organisations such as police forces, local authorities, sports facilities, transportation hubs and retail centres, that need security and surveillance to enhance and ensure operations to fight back against crime.
Having initiated collaboration with WMP back in 2005, Synectics’ integration will enhance WMP’s operational response capabilities. Synetics has also developed an Event Control Suite as part of its work in preparation for last summer’s Commonwealth Games in Birmingham.
The Event Control Suite seamlessly integrates thousands of video feeds from various independent systems into Synetics’ Synergy platform. Operators are then able to access and monitor these combined feeds via the Synergy interface, whether in control rooms or remotely, enabling swift responses to unusual events or potential security threats.
Paul Webb, CEO of Synectics said: “We are delighted to extend our partnership with West Midlands Police, with which we have formed a strong relationship on the back of our highly successful deployment at the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham.
“The inclusion of the regional camera network from the National Highways Agency will deliver even more comprehensive situational awareness for WMP. Integrating feeds from multiple agencies is a delicate and complex process, but with our technological expertise and compliance with protocols, we are able to deliver the end-to-end solution required by WMP.”
