Atlas set to generate 100 jobs at new Derby site
Atlas Composite Technologies is set to generate over 100 job opportunities after expanding its operations by constructing a state-of-the-art 30,000-square-foot building at Pride Park in Derby.
Projected to be fully operational by September, this facility will empower Atlas to bolster its production capacity and cater to the burgeoning demand for its composite solutions. Initially, the site will generate 30 employment positions, with this number anticipated to surpass 100 within the next three years.
Atlas currently operates from three sites in Ilkeston, Derbyshire. This ambitious growth initiative has been bolstered by the WeDo Business Services group, which previously injected a substantial seven-figure investment.
Ben Swain, Head of Commercial at Atlas, emphasised the significance of this expansion and the strategic advantages it will bring: “The new facility takes our total footprint in Derbyshire to more than 90,000 sq ft. It marks a significant milestone for our long-term growth strategy while also reinforcing our commitment to delivering high-quality products and services to our clients, and helping to drive economic growth in the region. It will enable us to scale up production to meet growing demand for our composite solutions, representing a major expansion of our manufacturing capacity. The new facility will generate 30 jobs initially, and we expect this to grow to more than 100 over the next three years. It will also enable our Ilkeston headquarters to become a research and development centre, as well as increasing manufacturing there.”
As this expansion takes shape, Atlas anticipates its turnover to exceed £10 million in 2024. The company is actively seeking individuals to fill various roles at the new Derby site, encompassing shop-floor manufacturing operatives and positions within their engineering, quality, stores, and training teams. The WeDo Group is set to contribute not only financially but also by providing outsourced HR support services to aid the recruitment drive and accommodate the evolving needs of the management team.
