Synapse CEO shortlisted for EY Entrepreneur of the Year Awards 2016

Founded in 2012, Synapse Information is a digital company that provides smart business spreadsheet solutions. In the last 12 months, Synapse has successfully doubled its team, accelerated research and development activities across the region and put plans in place to expand abroad after securing a £500,000 funding package from HSBC. Over the next three years, the business is on track annual turnover of £7 million to £10 million, with further plans to expand its team to up to 100 staff.

Now in its 30^th year globally and 18^th in the UK, Entrepreneur of the Year honours the contribution of the UK’s most influential entrepreneurs who are establishing and leading successful, growing and dynamic businesses. Brian Donnelly will go head-to-head with business leaders from across sectors including automotive, healthcare, real estate and government and public sector, to compete in the Midlands final on Tuesday 14^th June at Birmingham Council House.

The winner will be chosen by a panel of well-known business leaders and previous Entrepreneur of the Year winners; chaired by international businessman and active cross bench peer in the House of Lords, Digby, Lord Jones of Birmingham. The overall winner will then go on to represent the UK at the EY World Entrepreneur of the Year Awards in Monte Carlo in 2017.

Synapse is one of 18 early stage tech companies receiving support from Innovation Birmingham’s Entrepreneurs for the Future (e4f) Inspire programme, which delivers a series of workshops, keynote events, entrepreneur dinners, off-site visits, funded internship/apprenticeship placements, and peer group sessions, in order to accelerate the growth of entrepreneurial tech companies. Over 120 tech start-ups have been incubated by the e4f programme since November 2009, with over £10 million raised in initial investment rounds.
