Global manufacturer chooses Coventry as its UK base
Portuguese manufacturer, AMOB, has set up its UK base (AMOB UK) at Pilot Trade Centre in Coventry, to facilitate its move into the UK market.
A manufacturer in metalworking technologies, AMOB UK provides one of the biggest ranges of specialised equipment for the tube and pipe bending industry worldwide, and has a worldwide network of 70 agents.
Tom Wood, managing director of the British branch of AMOB, said: “AMOB wanted to expand into the country and now seemed like the perfect opportunity for the company to break into the market. Not only will we be selling AMOB machinery, we will have a separate company in operation to sell other brands within the sector. The hope is that as the business becomes established and grows here and the plan is to create more jobs.”
Becoming the latest tenant to move into the Pilot Trade Centre in Coventry, AMOB UK’s move onto the trade-only park leaves only one of the 14 units vacant or not currently under offer, and Tom Wood went on to say: “Pilot Trade Centre seemed the perfect choice as it has direct links to a number of motorways and is still so close to Coventry city centre.”
David Penn, partner at Bromwich Hardy, which managed the move for AMOB UK, added: “AMOB is a global brand that is well-known and respected within the manufacturing sector so we are pleased that they have set up at the site. We are getting a lot of interest for the last unit that is available. The fact that many well-known organisations, such as AMOB, Screwfix and Autoglass, have taken space here, demonstrates the quality of the development and the location.”
AMOB was originally founded in 1960 by António Martins Oliveira Barros (AMOB) in Portugal, but the company’s UK base now means it has commercial facilities in a range of countries including Spain and France.
